Group Bookings

At Tewkesbury Yoga, we teach a mindful, breath-centred form of Hatha Yoga known as Viniyoga — a traditional practice with a strong focus on adapting movement to the individual.

Rooted in the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and his son T.K.V. Desikachar, Viniyoga emphasises the connection between breath and movement, offering a slow, intentional approach. The word Viniyoga translates as “appropriate application”, reflecting the careful and considered way each technique is matched to the needs of the student.

A Personalised Practice — Even in a Group Setting

In a Viniyoga class, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. You may notice students practising in slightly different ways — this is encouraged.

Variations and modifications are offered to help support individual needs, whether to accommodate anatomical differences, respond to physical limitations, or promote deeper self-awareness. The focus is always on function and feel, rather than appearance or performance.

Blending Movement and Stillness

Classes include a mixture of dynamic movement and static postures, giving you the opportunity to fully experience and understand each position. Time is taken to ensure alignment, breath coordination and safe practice, which helps to:

  • Reduce the risk of injury

  • Deepen your understanding

  • Support therapeutic benefits over time

This considered approach is often overlooked in faster-paced yoga styles.

Group Classes and Beginners Course

Group classes run in themed blocks, allowing us to explore a particular focus and build on it week by week. This structure helps develop your skills and deepen your experience gradually.

If you are new to yoga, or returning after a break, we offer a dedicated Beginners Course at the Rayshill Building, Northway:
Thursdays, 7:15 – 8:30pm
Each term runs for 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the calendar.
