Yoga for Children & Teens

Yoga offers children and young people a valuable opportunity to build body awareness, manage emotions, and develop tools for relaxation and focus — all within a fun, supportive environment.

At Tewkesbury Yoga, our sessions for children and teens are thoughtfully designed to meet young people where they are, blending movement, breath, and mindfulness in an age-appropriate and engaging way.

Why Yoga for Young People?

In today’s fast-paced, often overstimulating world, yoga can offer a welcome pause. Practising yoga regularly can help children and teenagers:

  • Improve posture, balance and coordination

  • Build strength, flexibility and motor skills

  • Support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety

  • Improve concentration and focus

  • Develop self-confidence and a positive body image

  • Learn calming techniques for everyday challenges

Yoga is non-competitive, inclusive and accessible — making it a safe space for every child to explore and grow.

How Sessions Are Run

We offer sessions tailored to different age groups, ensuring each class is developmentally appropriate and engaging. A typical class may include:

  • Gentle movement and yoga postures (āsana)

  • Breathing techniques (prāṇāyāma)

  • Simple mindfulness practices and relaxation

  • Group activities or storytelling for younger children

  • Opportunities for self-reflection for teens

Classes are creative and playful for younger age groups, while teens are supported in a more mature, reflective way.

Suitable Settings

We can offer yoga for children and teens in a variety of settings, including:

  • After-school clubs and holiday activities

  • School wellbeing days or PE enrichment sessions

  • Youth groups or community events

  • One-to-one or small group sessions in our Garden Yoga Studio

All sessions are delivered by a fully insured, DBS-checked yoga teacher with experience in working with children and young people.
