Rachel at Tewkesbury Yoga is a very knowledgeable yoga teacher and her passion for it shines through. She teaches a style called 'Vini-yoga' which has a strong emphasis on breathing and technique. Her classes were always excellent and I found them just to be on the right side of challenging. Enough to push yourself but not too hard that you would feel out of your depth. Rachel, is also a really lovely, warm and friendly person who immediately puts you at your ease. I have really enjoyed my time practicing with her - it would have been longer but a house move is moving me away from the area. Rachel delivered a private yoga session for a group of friends when we visited Longdon for my birthday weekend recently. We all thoroughly enjoyed the session and she pitched it perfectly to a group of very mixed ability ladies and men. Through 1:1 sessions with her, I have gained knowledge of body and mind which has proved to be so useful to me in times where I have needed it the most. Her calming and caring nature instantly put me at ease and I was able to allow myself to relax and take in all of her words/practices of wisdom. As a total newbie to Yoga, Rachel has made me feel confident enough to try something new at my pace with her guidance along the way. Honestly can’t thank you enough Rachel for your guidance and 1:1 sessions as they have been imperative in helping me understand myself more than I ever thought I could and to give me those trusty tools in my toolbox for when days are just that little bit tougher. I have been attending these classes for over a year now and have found that not only are they good for my strength and flexibility but they have had a profound and positive effect on my stress levels and sleep. I always enjoy the relaxation part at the end of the session and sleep so well after a class. Rachel is great at taking in to account everybody's different strengths, weaknesses and injuries and offers alternatives to moves you might struggle with for a particular reason. We have also been lucky enough to have Rachel provide wellbeing yoga / relaxation sessions in our workplace, which has gone down really well with the team. I am a regular attendee at Rachel’s viniyoga class in Tewkesbury and that hour and a quarter is sacred ‘me time’ to breathe, focus & relax. I always feel more than 50% better as a result! Rachel respects the lineage & teachings of viniyoga which is reassuring we all receive the highest level of practice, exactly as it was intended. A recent 121 session worked really well to refocus my practice on a very individual level. During the consultation part, we explored what I wanted to achieve & Rachel cleverly incorporated that into a unique daily practice especially for me which completely fits into my lifestyle & goals. I was even sent an accompanying video. I cannot praise Rachel high enough. As a complete newbie to yoga she has completely put me at ease straight away with her warmth, kindness and understanding. The practice programme she has worked out for me is gentle, balanced and achievable, and she has kindly supported it with videos made just for me to help me remember what to do. I came to see Rachel after a good friend recommended her as someone who might help my back and posture issues. I was slightly nervous as my only previous experience of yoga had been rather off putting. However I need not have worried. Rachel’s calm, down to earth approach with me ensured that our initial session was delivered in a totally understandable way. She was mindful of my recent back pain and adopted postures accordingly. The resulting yoga poses that she set me are quickly becoming part of my daily routine. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who may have doubts about beginning on the yoga journey.
